Writers' Monday with Guy Boley

The latest winner of the Prix des Deux Magots 2023, Guy Boley, will be the first guest of the Lundi des Ecrivains season, on Monday October 9 at 6.30pm.

Le Lundi des Ecrivains is the monthly literary event we organize at Les Deux Magots: one Monday a month at 6.30pm, a leading author presents his or her latest work to a privileged audience. In an intimate setting conducive to confidence, we also discuss the rest of his work, his inspirations and influences, the birth of his passion for literature, and his writing methods.

Writers' Monday with Guy Boley

As places are limited, Le Lundi des Ecrivains is accessible by reservation only at evenementiel@lesdeuxmagots.fr.

As always, it will be hosted by the excellent Baptiste Liger, Editorial Director of Lire magazine.

On October 9, Guy Boley will present À ma sœur et unique, for which he has just won the Prix des Deux Magots. In this book, Boley explores the complex, tumultuous relationship between Friedrich Nietzsche and his sister Elisabeth Förster: the complicit childhood, the devoted support during the rise of a brother as brilliant as he was unstable, and then the betrayal.

Guy Boley was born in 1952. He’s been a bricklayer, factory worker, street singer, fire-eater, acrobat, acrobatic performer, circus director, high-wire walker, stagehand, scriptwriter, bus driver, bodyguard, Santa Claus and stuntman, prison writing workshop leader, guitar and film teacher, before becoming a playwright for dance and theater companies. He has performed over a hundred shows in Europe, Japan, Africa and the United States. He has published three books with Editions Grasset: Fils du feu (2016), Quand Dieu boxait en amateur (2018), and Funambule majuscule (2021).
