The literary and musical summer of Les Deux Magots 2022

There was an atmosphere of a Paris of yesteryear this June 27 at Les Deux Magots, or more exactly… a jubilation of yesteryear. A “Midnight in Paris”, like the Woody Allen film, where 350 people were happy, smiling and delighted to be together.

Everyone attended this musical moment offered by Olivia Ruiz, Mathias Malzieu, Cali and André Manoukian. The four artists all sang a few songs, improvising brilliant duets to the delight of all! A joyful and eclectic setlist, sailing between their repertoire and covers of Gainsbourg or Patti Smith.

Music then, and literature as well since the evening was dedicated to these two arts! The four artists mentioned above were also honored for the quality of their writing and their imagination. Olivia Ruiz (Listen to the rain fall / JC Lattès), Mathias Malzieu (The porcelain warrior / Albin Michel), Cali (Here are the angels / Albin Michel) and André Manoukian (On the roads of jazz / Harper Collins) presented their latest books to the public and held a signing session on the sunny terrace.

The stage, set up in the historic century-old hall for this occasion, also welcomed a great lady of jazz: the Australian singer Hetty Kate, accompanied by a guitar/double bass/drums trio of the most beautiful effect. And at midnight, a cake was brought by Coco, Cali’s daughter, moved to celebrate the 54th birthday of her dad.

Literature, music, jazz: no doubt, this June 27th, we were in Saint-Germain-des-Prés!
