PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK AND THE AUTHOR BY ÉDITIONS DU SEUIL :
“From major social, religious and political changes to different lifestyles and daily practices: the state of France in infographics and images.
In a single volume, Jérôme Fourquet looks back at the decline of Catholicism and the rise of new spiritualities, at the great anthropological shift underway – the reconfiguration of family structures and a new relationship with the body – and also at the process of archipelization affecting our country. It also looks at the Americanization of France and the shift from a production-based to a consumption-based economy. The book offers a comprehensive retrospective of a France that has metamorphosed in just a few decades, enriched by previously unpublished maps of the Macron vote among French citizens living abroad, the riots of summer 2023, the establishment of McDonald’s and the network of the low-cost company FlixBus, as well as photographs that provide us with a collective family album.
Jérôme Fourquet is a political analyst, expert in electoral geography and director of the Opinion department at IFOP.”
