Opening of Comptoirs Les Deux Magots
The new gourmet takeaway experience on the Left Bank
140 years after its creation, Les Deux Magots, the legendary house in Saint Germain des Prés, reinvents itself to write a new chapter in Parisian dining. On July 1, Comptoirs Les Deux Magots opens its doors on rue de Buci, offering an on-the-go dining experience featuring refined flavors, homemade recipes and local produce. A new, contemporary venue with literary charm to discover for a coffee break, lunch or snack on the spot or to take away.
A short menu based on homemade recipes, freshness and carefully sourced ingredients
The menu of artisanal products showcases traditional French know-how and expertise revisited with a touch of originality. At the top of the range, the “Baguettes Création” gourmet sandwiches are made up in front of the customer to reveal the flavours and aromas of the ingredients.

guarantee freshness with crusty bread and generous toppings. Also on the menu: Mini Carrés , a variety of colorful sandwiches to mix and share. The savory offering is rounded out by Carrés Chauds, including the traditional Croque-Monsieur from Les Deux Magots, salads and daily selections. The menu offers a variety of vegetarian options and will be regularly renewed with seasonal recipes.
Producers have been carefully sourced locally, and ingredients come from exceptional suppliers such as fromagerie Beillevaire, Maison Pétrossian and Maison Vérot.
Jacques Vergnaud, Brand Director explains , “Comptoirs Les Deux Magots has been designed to meet the needs of an active and demanding clientele who want to be able to eat quickly without compromising on quality. We offer only artisanal recipes based on carefully selected local and seasonal ingredients.”
On the sweet side, the Financiers des Deux Magots are a must-taste. They can be enjoyed singly or in groups of four, carefully packed in attractive “book boxes”. Finally, take-away versions of the Maison’s iconic products are also available: the signature tarte tatin and the famous old-fashioned hot chocolate complete the sweet and coffee offer.
Lovers of the art of Parisian living will also discover a brand new range of Les Deux Magots label products to give as gifts or to treat themselves.
A myth to go
The store seats fourteen, with a further ten or so on the terrace. Its elegant, contemporary setting evokes the literary café, with a color palette dominated by the iconic green, noble materials such as wood, brass accents, mirrors and mosaics. The decor and experience are also imbued with references and tributes to writers. Customers can immerse themselves in a book from the large library, or listen to a poem. They are also invited to write a postcard and drop it directly into the letterbox, which the team will then send to Paris or the other side of the world…
Catherine Mathivat, owner of Les Deux Magots, comments: “The opening of Comptoirs on rue de Buci, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, is a nod to the brand’s roots, where it took its first steps before moving to Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés. As we celebrate our 140th anniversary this year, I’m delighted to propel the brand into the future with this new take-away concept.”
