All new and beautiful

Our house is delighted to welcome you in its new splendor after months of renovation work on the Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Hidden under scaffolding since November 2024, the beautiful facade of our Haussmann building has been completely renovated and is once again on display for all to see. Stone is restored to its original brilliance, bringing out the various architectural details adorning the walls and cornices. It’s a delight that’s particularly appreciated with the clear skies we’re enjoying at this time of year.

The garden terrace has been further embellished this summer, with the installation of new rows of boxwood, and decorative braces whose design will be familiar to regular visitors to the Jardin du Luxembourg. Welcome to a bubble of greenery where the hustle and bustle of the boulevard fades away, a little corner of paradise in the heart of the Left Bank!

All new and beautiful

The work was carried out as part of the wider renovation of the Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, which was completed in the spring. The epicenter of the neighborhood, its roadway has been reduced in favor of an enlarged and renovated pedestrian area. Eleven lime trees have been planted to recreate tree-lined spaces in the heart of Paris, and our garden terrace has been specially designed to blend harmoniously into this landscape.

We look forward to seeing you in this beautiful setting to enjoy the Indian summer together!

Did you know?

Our café is delighted with the building’s restoration, as our presence on the Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés dates back to the 1830s. Originally, Les Deux Magots was a novelty store selling silks, fabrics, ready-to-wear and fashion accessories. The shipping department of Le Printemps department store was even relocated there for a time, occupying several floors of the building. In 1884, the place changed its name to become a café liquoriste, then the café-restaurant you know today.
